We know that trying a new church for the first time can a bit intimidating, with many faces and activities which are all unfamiliar. At Christ Community, we do our best to make you feel at home as one of our guests as quickly as possible, because let's face it, at some point we were all guests! We want you to be able to learn about our church and get connected in a way that makes sense for you. Here are some of the things you can expect when visiting Christ Community Church:
Parking: we have plenty of parking, both during the week and on Sundays, though during the changing services it might take you a minute to find a spot. For that reason, we have designated areas for visitor parking, immediately in front of the steps to the rear of the building, and handicap parking just to the right of the entrance.
Church office: our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we are always happy to take time to welcome you during the week, show you around the church and answer any questions.
Sunday Services: we have two identical worship services on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.. We have folks ready to welcome you at many of the doors, and once inside, you will find a Guests Welcome Center just outside our multipurpose room, and an Information Center in the middle of our lobby. Our building isn't huge, so with plenty of signs around, you won't have any problems. Stop by either center so we can welcome you personally, help with directions and give you some free stuff, like a coffee mug, or gift bags for the kids.
Name Tags: On Sundays, a first stop for our church family is to pick up there name tag outside the multipurpose room, which we find really helpful as new folks get to meet new friends, or those you recognize from the neighborhood or the office. You can get a name tag too on your first visit at the Guest Welcome Center, or order one through the program which you receive when you attend a service.
Worship Services: our services are about one hour in length, and feature elements such as singing, community updates and the message. The singing is a blend of tradition and modern selections, so as you participate, you might sign an upbeat chorus followed by a famous hymn. The message or sermon, usually about a half hour, are relevant for growing a genuine relationship with God in everyday life. The message will be rooted in one passage of the Bible, but the speaker will use stories, illustrations and multimedia to make things come alive for better understanding.
What to Wear: totally up to you. On any given Sunday or during the week, you will find our church family in anything from casual dress to more formal attire, and we all seem to like that freedom, and hope you will too.
No Offering Plate: it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how many people have been turned off by churches asking for money, and yet we understand giving to be an important act of worship. No offering plate is passed on Sundays, but offering boxes are at the rear of the multipurpose room for use at anytime.
