Perhaps you've heard the saying, "Many hands make work light." It was that saying that helped inspire the name and direction of a new ministry geared toward assisting single moms with various needs around their homes. Many Hands team members are made up of people from various ministries of Christ Community Church including the Retired Men's group, re:connect small groups as well as members of 30/40 and Classic Singles. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40 |
The following are notes received from single moms in response to work done in their homes through our Many Hands Ministry teams (see article entitled Serving a Family). If you are a single mom and would like more information about our Single Mom's Ministry OR if you would be interested in participating in the Many Hands Ministry to assist these single moms, please email me at mdossantos@visitchristcommunity.com. "I wanted to let you know that all has been done on the list except the tub caulking as I may be replacing the shower door and both would be done at the same time. We've already planned on touching base after the new year for this item. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ralph and two other guys came out today. Just wanted you to know, that they cut up the one tree, and hauled two truck loads of wood over to the farm across the street. However, the ground was a little too damp, and the truck wasn't able to get traction the last time they went. Therefore, Ralph stated that they would be back when it got a little cold, God bless them, so the truck wouldn't sink. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gentlemen, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
Our new single moms class (click button at left for details) welcomed 15 single moms over the first three weeks. The group has already decided to keep going up until Dec. 21, and then start again January 4. Any single mom is welcome to join the group at anytime. As part of this new effort, we are forming a 'helping hands' ministry. So far, re:connect (our ministry to 20somethings), 30/40 and a group of CCC retired men have begun to create a process where they can help single moms with practical needs around their home. If you are a single mom looking to connect with other single moms, consider attending the next class. Classes meet on Sunday's at 9am in room 201 at Christ Community Church. Once in the group, you can share some of the practical needs you might have around your home. From there, we'll see if we can help! For questions about our single moms group, email Jen at teamwalsh@hotmail.com. |
Scott Allen wrote an article recently and it was included in the recent newsletter sent out by Lori Little, author of the new curriculum, Hope and Help for the Single Mom. Here is what he said in an article entitled "Catch The Vision".
At the same time, we are looking to better meet the needs of single moms by starting a 'helping hands' ministry.Single moms have reported that there are things around their house that they just can't get to. We are now bending our other demographic-based singles ministries toward becoming the volunteer force behind this helping hands ministry. |

Who’s it for?
Mentor quote: “It’s an enjoyable and rewarding way to deepen your relationship with God and one other, through encouragement, learning, and friendship.” As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17 NIV |
30/40 and Classic Singles are the singles ministries at Christ Community Church. If you are a single adult in either of these age demographics (30s/40s or 45+), we invite you to consider attending one of our upcoming events. Both groups exist to encourage, equip and empower single adults to pursue a relationship with God and others. All of our events have this focus in mind. If you have further questions about any event, please contact Scott Allen, the pastor of single adults. For information on our divorce ministries, please click on Single Again to your left. If you are 18 - 30, visit: http://visitchristcommunity.com/ministries/young_adults. Single adults 30 - 35 are encouraged to check our young adult ministries/re:connect at www.visitreconnect.com. PLEASE NOTE: 30/40 is currently not offering events. We are planning a re-start of the group in late Spring, '08. Our hope is to offer a singles ministry to this age demographic that is more community service oriented. Keep checking back here for updates. |
